NASHVILLE – After winning their first Ohio Valley Conference match in five years this past Saturday, the good news and records continued to fall for the Tennessee State women’s tennis team, as they swept the board in the OVC Weekly Awards as the league announced Wednesday morning.
For the first time in program history, the Tigers have not only earned their first-ever OVC Weekly award, but they have earned two awards this week.
The doubles duo of Daniela Koleva / Aroa Arrieta Castillo was awarded the OVC Women’s Tennis Doubles Team of the Week honor, while Naomi Von Bose took home the OVC Women’s Player of the Week award.
Koleva and Arrieta Castillo were key players in TSU’s 7-0 win over Lindenwood as they won 6-0 at line three to help the Tigers take the doubles point.
Von Bose made quick work at the No. 2 singles spot as she cruised to a 6-2, 6-3 win in her match to earn POTW.
TSU will be back in action on Friday afternoon as they travel across town to take on Vanderbilt.
